We invite you to discover the beauty and
tranquility of Inniswood Metro Gardens, and ask your help in protecting
and preserving all parts of this regional living treasure. For
its protection and the enjoyment of others, please adhere to the
following botanical garden protocol.
*The
Formal Gardens are all areas within the wood entry structure and
fence line beyond (north of) the parking lot.
- Activities
such as
bicycling, jogging, roller blading and similar pursuits are
permitted OUTSIDE of the formal garden areas*
only.
- Bike
racks are provided in the parking lot for securing bikes during
your garden visit.
- Pets
shall be permitted OUTSIDE of the formal gardens*..
All pets must be on a leash no longer than 6 feet.
- Food
and picnics ARE NOT permitted in the formal gardens* .
6 picnic tables are located on the south side of the parking
lot OUTSIDE of the gardens. This area is not
available for the exclusive use of any group or persons.
- Alcohol
is NOT permitted at Inniswood or in any of the
Metro Parks
- Weddings
and similar ceremonies are permitted consistent
with policies and procedures approved by the Executive Director
(click
2013 Wedding Policy,
inquire at the Innis House or ask a park ranger for current
wedding policy). ALL
WEDDINGS AND WEDDING PHOTOGRAPHY IS RESTRICTED TO THE ROSE GARDEN.
- Visitors
shall remain on pathways and trails or upon mowed turf areas
within the formal garden areas of Inniswood. (Please
do not enter garden planting beds, climb trees and structures
or wade in fountains, waterfalls, ponds and streams)
- Please
do not pick flowers, collect seeds or take cuttings of any plants.
- The
Innis House serves as a location for staff offices,
educational programs and a non-lending horticultural library.
The main room features artwork of local artists.
Inniswood
Metro Gardens is located at 940 S. Hempstead Road in Westerville,
Ohio. From I-270, take exit 29, the State Route 3/Westerville
exit. Drive south on State Route 3 to Dempsey Road and turn
left. Continue on Dempsey to Hempstead Road (second traffic light)
and turn left. Continue on Hempstead approximately one-quarter
mile - stay on Hempstead Road as it turns right just past the
Blendon Township Community Complex. The entrance is approximately
one-tenth mile on the right-hand side.
Inniswood Metro Gardens is FREE and open daily throughout the
year from 7 a.m. to dark.The Innis House, former residence of
Grace and Mary Innis, is open Tuesday through Friday 8am-4:30pm,
Saturday and Sunday 11am - 4pm and is closed Monday and holidays.
The Innis House serves as a location for staff offices, educational
programs and volunteer headquarters. Public areas in the Innis
house are the main room and a non lending horticulture and natural
history library. The main room features artwork of local artists
and is open to the public during Innis House hours when programs
